Hangover Hill Presents 2025 Events

We run a series of events giving artists a chance to perform full sets of their original material to a paying audience, with the odd festival and covers gig thrown in. We include all genres and anything from solos and duos to full bands. Below is a list of our upcoming events.

Stone Angels

Swooping in from the vibrant ever-expanding music scene in Brighton UK is the soaring 4 piece of Niall Kersey (vocals), James (guitar), Sam Sayers (bass) and Loz Ford (drums).

Having shared stages with Kris Barras Band, Skindred, Hot Milk and Ricky Warwick the band pull inspiration from classic LA rock, Seattle’s iconic grunge and historic UK rock scenes and have been likened to such household names as Queens of The Stone Age and Soundgarden.

2024 saw them play festivals in Station 18 Swansea, Pride Rock Festival in their hometown and the final Monsterfest to rave reviews, they are very definitely ones to watch.
Mikey Ball & The Company

Mikey Ball, Dean Hurst, Sam Hurst and Chris Collins

With twin guitars, heart felt solos and hard hitting, soul connecting rock, inspired by legends such as Bruce Springsteen, Bryan Adams and The Gaslight Anthem and a talent for reaching their audience with a fun show and poetic lyrics, Mikey Ball & The Company really are hard to ignore.

They landed on the map in late 2022 and have gone from strength to strength ever since earning themselves some great support spots and festival appearances.
Shae Ray-Deane

Shae has been playing guitar for 10 years now and music is decidedly where he wants to be. He’s constantly being inspired by other artists which makes him want to see how far he can push the limits of his creation and performance. He attends the Bournemouth Academy of Modern Music (BAMM) and music is what he spends the majority of his time focused on both improving and learning more about the industry.

Gumjuaka
This band are known for their melodic horns weaving in and out of instrumental phases, spacey dub guitar and walking basslines which fuse together with vox and rap to create a chilled and vibrant sound. Their concoction of original vibes gets people dancing nourishing the souls and cells of crowds far and wide. Over the last two years they have played Freezone Festival, EnDorset, Wilkswood Reggae Festival, Bournemouth Reggae Weekender, Specialized Festival and many music venues across the south west. If it’s world music vibes you are after you will certainly find it here.
Reid Hillwood
Reid Hillwood is a singer songwriter from the south coast of England. Having grown up on a healthy diet of eclectic music
ranging from Folk, Electronic indie pop and Rock & Metal, Reid has teamed up with Cinematic Sync Producer/Bass player (from
hit Irish rock band The Answer) Micky Waters to write and Record a new EP songs from which he will be sharing in his set.
Phil Ireland
Phil Ireland is a vocalist, guitarist, bassist, songwriter & solo performer rolled into one.
His original music styles include pop, rock, funk & soul and are vocal and guitar driven. After many successful years in the rock/metal world with Exit State & Breaking Waves and an extensive touring schedule he made the decision to go solo and in the last 6 years has supported Tony Hadley, Go West, T’Pau, Heaven 17, Doctor & The Medics, John Power (Cast), Paul Young & Ben Haenow. Has played big events all over the North West from ‘Music In The Park’ to ‘Darwen Live’ to the world famous Colne ‘Rhythm & Blues festival’.

Archie Ray is a prolific Singer/Songwriter from Cornwall. An artist who brings multiple genres and various walks of life into a shared space of music by blending the sounds of artists such as Ed Sheeran, Sam Fender, Lewis Capaldi, Foy Vance and The Script.From rock-pop ballads, catchy hip-hop tunes or emotional soundscapes, Archie Ray covers all ground in a live performance, getting the audience involved and singing along.This artist style of songwriting and performance has taken Archie Ray’s music to BBC Introducing Southwest and Solent, BBC Cornwall, Sync in a Raindance Awarded No.1 UK Feature 2021 alongside Declan McKenna in the Soundtrack and most recently returning from a leg of a Tour in Ireland supporting established artist Brad Heidi.
The Boundless Brothers are a British Alt Pop Rock band renowned for their piercing lyrics, timeless melodies and hypnotic harmonies. Their current inspiration comes from the likes of Kodaline, The 1975, Mumford &Sons, Bastille, James Bay, Steely Dan, and Joy Crookes. They have performed extensively in their own right across south west England and beyond, and have supported mainstream artists such as The Proclaimers, Toploader, and Newton Faulkner.To date they have released 8 Singles and 2 EP’s to date and their first full studio album.
Mia Nicholls is an emerging 23-year-old singer/songwriter from the South East of England. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Alice Phoebe Lou, Laura Marling and Lana Del Rey, she remains fluid in her genre and music production, with a rich and captivating vocal remaining at the forefront of her work. Mia’s poetic lyrics and dark-folk guitar delves deep into duality of human nature, revealing honesty in a realm of imagery and escapism.

In association with the Original Music Awards Dorset (OMA’s) we will be kicking off the days entertainment with the ‘Tap Room Talent’ showcase for performers under 18 years old. Galahad was formed in Christchurch in early 1985 by original guitarist Roy Keyworth and the line-up was completed when Stu Nicholson joined as vocalist in July 1985. Their first ever show was at Somerford Community Centre on 31 August 1985. They then played several hundred gigs throughout the rest of the 1980s and early 1990s at almost all of the venues in and around the local area before playing further afield as time went on.Stu says “I’ve got so many great memories of those days when we were so much younger and, looking backing on it, it seemed a simpler and more carefree time. We had our dark times as, unfortunately, is often the case, the saddest of all was losing our bass guitarist Neil Pepper to Oesophageal cancer in 2011 but he of all people would have wanted us to keep going. Who’d have thought we’d still be at it after all these years and still feeling inspired to create, write, record, play etc. in spite of our, not so slowly, advancing years!”
Traffic Cone Wizard are an eclectic indie-rock band from Bournemouth, UK, originally formed in 2010. After writing and performing
together for just a year, the band split in 2011. They reunited in 2020, bringing a new energy and direction to their sound.
In 2023, they released their debut album, We:Are, which blends indie rock, psychedelia, and experimental pop. The album captures
the band’s distinctive style, with quirky instrumentals and introspective lyrics.
Traffic Cone Wizard continue to carve out their unique place in the local music scene with their vibrant, genre-defying sound.
lucymuses is a singer-songwriter who has been charming audiences with her confessional
songwriting and chatty performance stylings since 2023. A self-described ‘walking noise complaint’,
she blends her choral foundations with a lifelong love of any and all music and performance, and a
‘vibes-led’ approach to guitar-playing (read: never taken a lesson). The result is melodic, self-aware,
sometimes melancholy, often fun, and always delivered with a cackle.

This month features AK & The Red Kites (touring), The Whitely Lake Band and Nia Nicholls who won ‘Best Songwriter’ in the 2024 Original Music Awards Dorset. Tickets on sale 10am on Friday 23rd May https://www.lighthousepoole.co.uk/

AK & The Red Kites
This is a modern rock band with a retro infused vibe bearing big ris, foot-stomping grooves and vast melodic
soundscapes. The cornerstone of this new exciting venture is frontman/guitarist Andrew Knightley, rising from
the ashes of his previous band blues rockers Trident Waters. Having eloped to the Chiltern Hills UK during the
global pandemic, Andrew began writing songs that would shape the project to come.
He muses, “I wrote most of my new music looking out the window onto the woods and the Red Kites are always circling overhead.
I felt a connection, that they were part of my inspiration. I’ve put a lot of who I am and where I’ve been into the songs and
have laid it all on the table and I wanted to honour that sense of freedom and protection that they have provided me with.
AK & The Red Kites is a direct reference to my creative process and where I am now as a person.”
Nia Nicholls
Awarded Best Solo Artist and Best Songwriter by the OMA’s in Dorset, Nia’s got a reputation that’s as strong as her voice.
Her hit track “Exes” was named Track of 2023 by BBC Introducing, and she’s been rockin’ the airwaves on BBC Kent and BBC Wales.
This lady’s got Nashville in her blood, having recorded most of her songs in Music City, but she’s been making waves all over
the map! In 2024, she became the first British artist ever invited to perform at the In A Jam Down By The River festival in Texas!
And if that’s not enough to get you excited, country star Dylan Scott has her on his radar, calling her “one to watch,” while
legendary American songwriter Dean Friedman has had her open for him on his UK tours the past two years.
The Whitley Lake Band
Born from jams on the sands of Whitley Lake, Sandbanks, The Whitley Lake Band crafts an eclectic mix of songs.
Expect singalong choruses layered over thumping beats, hooky riffs giving way to expansive jams and dynamic
breakdowns – all drawing from a wide range of genres.

Our final show of the year at Lighthouse features Tarraska (Dorset), Love Is Enough (Salisbury) and emerging singer songwriter and producer 18 year old Charlotte Geary. Tickets on sale 10am on Friday 23rd May https://www.lighthousepoole.co.uk/

Tarraska hailing from the south coast of England the core of the band have been giggingacoustically from 2014 and steadily wrote and played their original material. This includedhundreds of performances at a multitude of venues and a major festival appearance. As theystarted recording in 2019, the tracks demanded a heavier sound and TARRASKA was born.Their original acoustic/electric duo was formed in May 2014 by lifelong friends Ben Parker (LeadGuitar) and Jack Lande (Vocals and Guitar) and June 2022 saw Tarraska take to the stage as a 4 piece band with Allan Varnfield on drums and Oliver Lande on bass.Due to other commitments, Tarraska took a break in 2024 and 2025 will see their return to stagesand the writing process of new material.
Love Is Enough are a collaboration between three musicians who grew up around the sleepy city of Salisbury:
Cameron Walker, Thor Porter and Ben Whatsley.
Bristling with Alt-Rock/Pop polished bangers, you’ll soon buy into the bands all inclusive attitude and uplifting vibes –
Love Is Enough wear their hearts of gold proudly on their sleeves but are also not afraid to visit the far darker places in
love and life.
Cam’s clever lyrics are wrapped up in gorgeous vocal melodies, then drenched in dreamy vocal harmonies which
enchant and resonate with each listener for a very personal and unique experience.
Love Is Enough have been capturing hearts at every stop with their energetic live performances and stunning studio
releases – “You’ll be stuck with these tunes in your head for weeks!!”
Charlotte Geary is a young vocalist and singer-songwriter from the South Coast England. Charlotte has been a gigging musician since the age of 13. She has a passion for performing, captivating her audience with her beautiful song craft and storytelling. Currently recording her first EP, Charlotte takes some influence from pop, folk, country, and rock genres admiring artists such as Tina Dico, First Aid Kit and Tedeschi Trucks Band.
